ParticipantQuestion: Why ANSYS does not utilize GPU for rendering when I use it over RDP ? Customer encounters slow graphic rendering issue when using ANSYS over RDP. There is no such issue if customer directly uses ANSYS on the remote machine. Monitoring GPU usage reveals that GPU is not used when using ANSYS over RDP. Answer: Windows 10 does not enable GPU for rendering over RDP by default. This can be enabled by changing Group Policy on the remote (host) machine. – Launch CMD Prompt and issue the following command gpedit – Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Remote Session Environment – Enable the “Use hardware graphics adapters for all Remote Desktop Services sessions” Note: This option may not exist on Windows 10 LTSB Keywords: GPU over RDP, Enable GPU
