Answer: To limit / restrict licenses by groups of or individual usernames or hostnames / IP addresses / IP address wildcards a flexlm options file (a text file) which contains rules will need to be created on the license server. The default file name and path are Windows C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensinglicense_filesansyslmd.opt Linux /ansys_inc/shared_files/licensing/license_files/ansyslmd.opt Below is an example of a group with one username defined and which reserves 3 ansys licenses for that group GROUP dummy nosuchuser RESERVE 3 ansys GROUP dummy Another example of reserving by a specific INCREMENT line by using the encryption code in the line RESERVE 2 ansys_key= 678BFG15090D GROUP dummy For additional information please refer the section “Managing the Options File” in the pdf file at the path below on the license server C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensinglicadmindocufnp_LicAdmin.pdf Note the license server will need to be stopped and restarted when the options file is created. Also for all updates a reread or a stop and a start will need to be used.
