How does PLCAMP sort modes to be sure a mode is plotted consistently by the same line? How does it determine whether the whirl is backward or forward?

      A correlation matrix for the modes is computed using RSTMAC to sort the modes. To determine the whirl of a rotating structure we do the following. At each node we calculate the cross-product between the displacement vector and the derivative of the displacement vector. Then we compare it to the spin. We calculate a global whirl by taking an average of all the “nodal” whirls.
