FAQ
ParticipantWhen ANSYS 2021 software has been installed on the same client machine, where older versions of ANSYS are still being run. If a Mechanical solver background mode calculation is run in version 2020R2 or older and only elastic license servers are being used. The job can fail because it tries to run with a -p ansys license setting and Mechanical Enterprise licenses cannot be supplied by an elastic license server. To workaround this issue and allow Mechanical Solver 2020R2 and earlier, background calculations, to run when only elastic licenses are available. On the ANSYS client machine, even if this is not going to be used as an ANSYS License server machine. Download and install the ANSYS License Manager 2021.1.4 update from the ANSYS Customer portal.
